HONORARY MEMBER
The Honorary Member award is presented to an individual(s) who has in some significant way
improved the turfgrass industry or organization. The designation is carefully preserved to
maintain the prestigious status of individuals who are honored. Honorary Member award
recipient(s) are selected by a vote of the Board of Trustees based on individuals nominated
by members at large. Recipient(s) receive lifetime TPI membership, an individualized
commemorative gift, complimentary meeting registration, Turf News coverage and a listing in the
TPI membership directory. The recipient(s) receive recognition during the Midwinter Conference.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
TPI Past Presidents select one individual from nominees submitted by fellow members.
This award recognizes outstanding devotion of time, talent and energy to TPI,
its programs and objectives for five or more years. Recipient receives complimentary
membership for five years and receives recognition in Turf News magazine, a personalized
plaque and a listing in the TPI membership directory.
INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
The TPI Public Relations Working Group selects one individual from among nominees
submitted by fellow members in recognition of unique and significant achievement that
advances turfgrass sod production through research, engineering, training, marketing
and public relations or environmental improvement. The Innovator of the Year Award recipient
receives a personalized plaque, Turf News coverage and a listing in the TPI
membership directory.
PRESIDENT’S LEADERSHIP AWARD
The TPI President, at his/her sole discretion, may select one member during his/her
term in office that has shown exemplary dedication and performance to TPI for one or more
years.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Dr. Henry W. Indyk Scholarship program (administered by The Lawn Institute) was established to
honor a founding father of TPI, while demonstrating the association's commitment to education
and offering a valuable membership benefit. Since its inception in 2006, TPI has awarded up
to $10,000 in scholarships annually. Scholarships are available to immediate family or designated
staff of a current TPI member (Class A, B or C) in good standing. Scholarship applicants
majoring in any given field must plan on attending or be attending an accredited educational
facility as a full-time student.
